Fire Damper Installation, Testing & Maintenance
Marloweโs fire damper solutions are designed to automatically shut ductwork pathways during a fire, maintaining the integrity of fire-rated compartments and helping to safeguard evacuation routes.
How does a fire damper work?
We design each solution around your buildingโs specific fire safety strategy. Where required, we can install motorised fire dampers that integrate with your existing fire alarm system or Building Energy Management System (BEMS).
When a fire occurs, the temperature rise causes a fusible link or thermal device to activate. This releases the damperโs mechanism, allowing the blades to shut and seal off the ductwork.
This process helps to maintain the integrity of fire compartments and stops fire and smoke from spreading rapidly through the building via internal ducts.
Is fire damper testing a legal requirement?
Yes. Under UK fire safety legislation, fire damper testing is a legal requirement and must be carried out on installation and at regular intervals thereafter.
Those responsible for a building have a duty of care to ensure that all fire dampers are in safe working order. This includes ensuring that devices are tested, maintained and cleaned in line with current guidance.
Meeting your fire damper needs and requirements
Our accreditation with IFC ensures our customers can rest assured their life safety requirements are in safe hands
Supply and installation of certified fire dampers
We supply and install a full range of CE-marked fire dampers, ensuring they are fitted correctly in line with your buildingโs fire compartmentation strategy. Our team works to current British Standards and can install both standard and motorised units, integrating them seamlessly into new or existing ductwork systems.
Planned inspection and maintenance
Over time, fire dampers can seize, corrode or become blocked. Our planned maintenance service ensures that dampers are kept in working order through scheduled inspections, helping you stay compliant and reducing the risk of failure during an emergency.
Cleaning and obstruction removal
Dust, debris or installation residue can all prevent a fire damper from closing properly. As part of our service, we clean each unit and its surrounding ductwork to remove any obstructions, making sure the damper can operate smoothly and reliably when activated.
Remedial works and replacement
If a fire damper is found to be damaged, incorrectly installed or non-compliant, we carry out the necessary remedial works to restore its performance. This could include replacing the damper, correcting access issues or sealing the surrounding area to maintain fire compartment integrity.
Fire damper asset mapping and reporting
We create a complete asset register of all fire dampers on-site, tagging each one and mapping their locations for future maintenance. Our digital reports include testing results, photos and compliance notes, making audits easier and ensuring full traceability for duty holders.
